Ever wondered what the difference between antlers and horns are? Why are the antlers or horns on some animals bigger than others? Why are antlers sometimes fuzzy? What’s inside of a horn exactly? Elizabeth Angell, Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Education Assistant for the Schools and Outdoor Learning Environments (SOLE) program, explains it all!

The SOLE program is designed to increase interest and participation in the outdoors by connecting Colorado students and families to environmental education programs and outdoor locations. The program, directed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, is funded by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO). Visit SOLE’s website for teacher resources, volunteer opportunities and much more.

  1. Excellent! I definitely learned a few things. I didn’t realize that other animals would chew on the antlers for additional calcium. GREAT Video!
